Beneficial Herbal Teas for Wellness Protection

Here are some beneficial herbal teas for wellness protection.  Many of us want to boost our immune systems during the winter and flu season.

In addition to the usual rules:
  • washing your hands
  • don’t go out when feeling sick
  • staying hydrated
  • eat nourishing foods

While these are great rules to follow throughout the flu season. You can also think about some herbs that are safe.  These herbs are used for general, and long-term benefits.

1.  Astragalus Root health benefits

Astragalus Root is an adaptogen.  It can help protect the body from physical, mental, or emotional stress.

  • It contains complex polysaccharides  used to improve immune activity
  • Increases the activity of white blood cells
  • Stimulating adrenal-cortical activity
  • Encourages red blood cell formation in the bone marrow

Some of the common illnesses it is used against are

  • colds
  • flu
  • respiratory illnesses

This is not a herb used during illness

2.  Echinacea Root benefits

Echinacea root is a great example of an immune booster. It also helps the body fight infections.

  • ease colds
  • sore throat
  • respiratory tract infections
  • useful herb to add to your daily routine.  And you’re at risk for viral infection or about to travel.
3.  Elderberry

Elderberry is harvested from the indigenous Sambucus elder tree. Elderberries have been a source of nutrition and medicine for years.  It is a gentle antiviral herb.  It has been called upon as a remedy during outbreaks of the flu. Some consider it a preventive to be taken throughout flu season.

There are many forms of elderberry available:

  • syrups
  • gummies
  • lozenges
  • teas
  • extracts.

It’s possible to make some of these preparations at home.

Elderberries need to be cooked before consumption. The stem/root, leaves, and bark can be toxic and avoided.

The purple color of elderberries is a sign of high antioxidant content.

These are just a few of my top herbs for health!
