DIY Rosehip Lip Oil

DIY Rosehip Lip Oil

During the winter months, lips are extremely cracked and dry. This DIY Rosehip Lip oil is beneficial to any type of dry or chapped lips.

Lip Health facts:

Did you know our lips contain no oil glands and cannot generate their own hydration?  Your lips are exposed to the elements every minute of the day.  The intense cold, dry air, and hot sun are very hard on the lips. That’s why it’s important to moisturize your lips to avoid them feeling sore and irritated.

Making your own lip oil is economical and simple. You can choose your own blend of oils based on your own preferences.

Ingredients to make Rosehip Lip Oil

Organic Jojoba Oil

Organic Castor Oil

Organic Rosehip Oil

Organic Refined Shea Butter

Organic Vitamin E oil

Organic Essential Oils

Benefits for each ingredient

Organic Jojoba oil soothes dry chapped lips, has nourishing vitamins and minerals. It absorbs very easily.

Organic Castor oil is a humectant that is rich in monounsaturated fatty acid ricinoleic acid. It helps retain skin moisture by preventing water loss through the outer layer of your skin

Organic Rosehip Oil contains pure Vitamin A and is known to nourish and repair dry and damaged skin. Rosehips seeds contain essential fatty acids which help to replenish the oils lost in your lips, keeping them soft and smooth.

Organic Shea butter is an incredible emollient, which means that it has the ability to form a barrier on the lips and help retain moisture.

Organic Vitamin E is fat-soluble, which means it has the ability to penetrate deep down into your skin and preserve the lipids/fats in your lips.

ROSEHIP LIP OIL Directions:

  1. Combine jojoba oil, rosehip oil, and shea butter in a glass bowl. Heat over a double boiler of simmering water, mixing regularly, until melted and blended together.
  2. Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Stir in vitamin E and essential oils, if using.
  4. Pour mixture into bottles and secure lid when fully cooled.
ALTERNATIVE OILS TO USE:

You can change the oils to your preference.  Some alternatives would be Sweet Almond Oil, Safflower Oil, Avacado Oil, and Fractionated Coconut oil.  If shea butter isn’t your choice, you could try cocoa butter or mango butter.
