Should I infuse oils or leave them plain?
Infusing captures the benefits of herbs for many uses for skincare. Oils can also be infused with herbs and/or flowers that harness the many healing benefits of herbs
Which herb is best?
One of my favorite herbs to infuse in lip balm is Marshmallow root. It leaves your skin looking hydrated, youthful, and radiant.
What is Marshmallow root?
Marshmallow root, Althea officinalis, is a perennial herb in which the root part produces a gummy substance called mucilage. The word Althaea comes from the Greek word Altho, meaning “to cure.” Marshmallow got its name from growing in marshes and other damp areas. The mucilage is highly effective at moisturizing the skin. Thus, forming a protective layer to seal in moisture to treat dry skin and boosts skin health through the polysaccharides and flavonoids.
